Steel braided oil lines to oil cooler?

My inlet and outlet oil lines are leaking and I want to change them over to braided steel. Does anyone know the demnsions for the fittings needed? Is it 18 mm or 22mm? I need more information before I take her apart. And will it work???

The original hoses lasted over 20 years. The newer hose material is better and should last even longer. You can have the hoses rebuilt for probably less than the SS braid alone will cost. I think I paid between $20 & $30 for the last set.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thanks for the input jlevie. I really want to go to braided steel route. I'm not worried about the cost of the lines so much.

Are you looking for appearance from the braided steel? Other than that, they don't provide much benefit on a road car. Other than that, you could make your own lines to fit.

I brazed AN ends onto the stock steel hose ends and made my own. Took a couple of
hours and used parts I already had lying around. Worth it? Sure, since I didn't
have to actually buy anything. Only real gain is that if one pops, it can be re- made
at the track. But then, they NEVER pop...

          because racecar?

The main purpose is for looks. And in the future if it breaks I'll still have line left over to replace.

What was the measurement for your an fittings Toby?

I used metric 22mm to -8 JIC Adapters on my setup. Swapped out the stock cooler for a much larger B&M cooler. Using aeroquip pushloc hose and fittings.

I used the stock metal ends off the stock hose, and brazed AN-8 fittings onto them.
2 straight AN-AN hoses later, all done.

Almost ghetto, but better (I thought) than trusting the 25- year- old original rubber.

I ended up buying replacement hoses. I will be using the old lines to tinker with to see what is the best way to add the braided steel. TG, do you have a part number or a location for the 22mm to -8an fitting? I cant find one anywhere.
