Fuel pump on its way out?

Replaced my fuel pump about 3 years ago. Today its was giving off a very audiable hum, louder than I ever remember. I've been meaning to relocate my purge valve, back to the pump but never have.

wow only 3 years? is it OEM or aftermarket? AFAIK my pump is origininal (although I would like to replace it *before* it dies), they should last a lot longer than that. doesn't your car have 2 pumps? perhaps the secondary went out and your main pump is overworking.

Mine has always been noisy and I've never given it another thought, but today I could hear it over traffic and road noise with the windows down. Did the same thing going into work, but when I was leaving it quieted down to its normal level.

I forget what the brand is. I dont think there was anything wrong with the one I replaced it with. It was one thing my dad bought for me when we were trying to do some diagnosis. I may just keep it in the trunk as a spare now.
