    Bmw e30 320i instrument cluster

    Hello guys,
    i need a little help...here is the situation

    I have bmw e30 320i 1983...

    Recently i bought bmw e30 instrument cluster from ebay, (the first one on the picture) and as you can see this cluster has socket for plug that my old ( original) cluster doesnt have ...
    please tell me if the new one will work in my car?

    It will work, you just need the coding plug. That little plug interprets the engine speed so the tachometer knows which motor is in the car. You need a "i" coding plug.

      you mean the black plug on the back of the cluster? is that the coding plug?

          the coding plug is installed in the socket you circled on the front. What it does is largely explained above. On your old cluster the coding plug is on the back, to the right of the blue plug on the back of the cluster. Looks like a T shape.

          Updated, later model clusters have it located on the front, little rectangle box that simply plugs into place, different plugs for different models. So you need one from a 6 cylinder 325i.
