A couple months ago, the temp gauge my 89 325is would run a little high. When I first got my thermostat (80 degrees, I believe), the needle would stay smack at the halfway mark when the car was fully warmed up. Then, it would run at maybe the 60% mark, a little between 1/2 and 3/4. I didn't do anything, and it self-corrected.
Now, the needle stays between the 1/2 and 1/4 marks when warmed up. If I idle a long time, it moves up a tiny bit, but still short of 1/2.
I'm thinking that the thermostat has issues. It used to be stuck closed occasionally, not seems to be stuck partly open. Does that sound reasonable? I've had this thermostat for just short of 2 years/7-8K miles. Thanks.
