I always run mine for a few seconds after I adjust the valves the first time.
Then I check the clearance for a second time.
If a valve has gone back to being out of adjustment , I just assume that the eccentric is flattened.
I replace the eccentric as well as the nut.
The valve will then stay in aadjustment ,where you set it.
Eccentrics are cheap, $2.50 each. The nuts are 59 cents. I use a new nut everytime I replace an eccentric.---Steve
