how do i tell if i have a 105a,90a,or 80a alternator? And can i use a higher amperage alternator on my car provided the mounts are the same? The reason for this is my alternator went out and im running alot of accessories on my car (ie: HIDs,Fogs,400w 4channel amp,1000wX1 monoblock amp,2.0 farad capacitor). Also i have a brand new optima yellow top waiting to be installed and i dont want to run down my battery just so i can drive my car with the bad alternator.

you should be able to run the p/n and it should tell you, or you could call the stealer and they'll as for the last numbers of your vin and they will know that way. either way, i burned out 2 of the high amp alts. in 2 years with a 400 watt amp a 650 watt amp, and an h4 conversion with 100 watt highs and 80 watt lows. i'm not running a 150 amp GM alt. with modified mounting brackets.Comment
