Turn Signal Gremlin

Hey guys,

So I just finished up my engine swap, but was unable to figure out my turn signal problem which I had before the swap. The problem is both turn signals work fine when my hazards are on. They also blink at the correct rate when the stem is moved up or down just a bit. But If I go all the way up or down to lock it into left blinker or right blinker, the turn signals will not light up at all.

Its like the stem has a sweet point and I have to jiggle it manual to turn them on, it wont just do it by itself.

Recap:
1. Turn signals work fine with hazards
2. Turn signals blink at the correct rate when stem is moved up and down and hits the "sweet spot". Wont work if its under or over it.

Am I just having a switch problem? or has this happened to anyone else? Sorry if I am not being very clear, I'm trying to explain it the best I can.

Also I tried to do a search but most of the searches that come up are for blinkers that don't work completely or blink to fast.

Unfortunately the switch comes as a unit with a connector to the layered plug on the steering column, a ground wire and flasher plug. It's really not that bad to replace but since it sounds like the contacts on the switch you may want to try cleaning them with either electrical contact cleaner or whatever else you can fit in there .

Keep in mind that there are 3 different switches..an early one, one ifnyou have OBC and lastly the airbag switch

Mine used to fast click sometimes too and I knew it was In the stalk because if I hit it it would stop. I just kept using it and switching the stAlk up and down hard and it went away lol.
