By the way the stuff Greggs recommended seems to be working. I still don't know what my psi should be but with 2 cans in the system I'm getting 50 degrees in the vent on the highway 60 around town all while it's 110 out. Good enough for me.

Did you guys use any of the stop leak and the oil charge and stuff? I'm not sure exactly what I should be using and I how I should use it

I used the stop leak first then 2 cans of the recharge. I think the oil is only if you completely evacuate the system?

However, I would call the company to verify before ordering. I believe their refrigerant is both R134a and R12 compatible.
Meh. I use it for leak testing because I have the can. It's not very good.

              The flaws are:
              1) bizarre off throttle engine braking characteristics (it must out a lot of stress on the compressor.)
              2) worse performance than R134a when the weather gets really hot. In mild conditions, it's slightly colder, but that isn't very useful.

Interesting. I noticed #1 also. Didn't realize it was from the refrigerant I put in.

I plan on pulling out the system and replacing the condenser and drier canister as well as the o-rings to convert it fully to R134a once this summer is over (and I get a new job).

Hoff - do you recommend I still go for it? I'm not really that concerned with the performance completely. I need something easy and cheap to do so this looks like a good canidate

Yea worth a try. I noticed the difference. The load issue doesnt happen all the time and is not noticable once you get on the road. Want me to send you the 1 can I have with the pressure gauge?

I refilled mine and my neighbors 240sx last month using johnsens Freeze 12 which I bought off eBay for $30/can. Bought the $10 johnsens r12 hose kit from amazon and it was cake filling the system. Fortunately for me, my ac worked fine, just wanted to top it off so I only used 1/3 of a can before it was full. My neighbor on the other hand was completely dry, and used almost 3 cans. Both cars now blow super ice cold....although we are expecting the 240 to last until the end of the summer (if that).
