    Loose drive belts

Ok, so I have a 1991 318 and for some reason a While back both my alternator and water pump belts broke off. So I replaced them with new ones and tightened them to the right tension. So recently I noticed that the the tension on those same belts are loose again. I've tried tightening them but that's as far as they go. I've had the new belts for about 3 months to me it doesn't seem right that they would be loose by now. Is there anything I can replace to get rid of that problem?

It sounds to me like you might not have used the correct belts (a bit longer than what should have been there).
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

ah I see, well that would make sense so when I bought the belts they probably gave me the wrong ones or something. the weird part is that they did hold tension but only for a few months then they just go loose.

A new belt usually loosens just a bit at first, as it seats to the old pulleys...
