    Wiring for trailer harness

Sup bros, so I'm trying to figure out how to wire my trailer harness. Followed some generalized instructions I found online and this was pretty much what I did. Please keep in mind that I was pretty hammered on Saturday and I hadn't drawn the proposed wiring down so no flags were thrown until I tried using the brakes or turn signals.

Needless to say all the lights would come on if I tried to use either of them. Issue is that on my truck, the brake lights don't flash when the turn signals do, it's a whole separate circuit. So I figured I'd try this and see if it works:

Basically, add in diodes before the splices so that current can't flow "backwards" and complete a circuit between the brake lights & turn signals. Thoughts? Is this theory solid? Gonna work? Let me know.

If adding trailer brake lights to a BMW you need one of the little black boxes that changes the Euro system in to the US system. Any U-Haul should have one.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Lol, guess I should've specified that this is for my Ranger, not the e30. And yeah, I (now) know that you're supposed to get a harness adapter that is a plug-in job, but I felt like being cheap / already in this deep for work. Gotta have working trailer lights for when I tow my car to the track this weekend.

So, update - my theory was solid. All lights work normal, power going to each trailer harness pin when appropriate.

I don't see why this method wouldn't work on an e30 though, same exact concept. All for under $15.
