You are supposed to use a mandrel, pack the hole with grease and tap the mandrel in the hole. The hyrdaulic pressure should push it out.

If its damaged I dont' see this method working. I had to cut the thing out.
A slide hammer/throwout bearing puller might work too.

When you tap the new one in, I believe it needs to protrude 4mm. And use a little grease in the hole for lubrication

im just having the driveshaft shop take it out for me. they are also straightening the mounting flanges and changing the u-joints. local driveline shop, total cost $80. not bad.

          wow, that's a deal!

on topic, I had a damaged one that came out fairly easy with the packed grease, the mandrel was too small since the hole was messed up. I drilled it oversize and used a larger mandrel. I ended up getting greasy on this one, but it worked.

I had my driveshaft rebuilt by a local shop and he used Nissan u-joints. They use an internal clip and only require the flange be bored slightly to install them. Turned out pretty well, but he did not change the guide bushing and I now have to pull the driveshaft again to change this.
