I'm replacing the high-pressure fuel pump on my '87is. Once I took off the pump and the little bit of fuel drained into my pan, I noticed tiny metal flakes in the pan.
What should I look into further? Is it necessary for me to take out the seat to look at the fuel tank for anything? The flakes I see aren't brown-rusty, they're clean metal.
The car itself very often stalls during idle. In discussions with others, we think the pump was the verdict to the stalling. Maybe there's something more to it?
Thanks for the advice.
