    Cabin air filter

I put this into the tech form to please digitalwave :-P

When I turn my air on it smells like complete ass. I suppose 214k on probably the original cabin air filter would do that.

Only thing is, where the hell is it and how do I replace it? Ive never seen anyone talk about this or anything to find it.

And so the debate continues.... :)

Only very few Non A/C Canadian cars had them and even this is debatable. It was supposed to go up in the dash where the evaporator is.

Well I know e36's and e39's have em but anything before those I dont know for sure. e39's and e38's are the easiest to change, and e36's are a little more difficult but not too bad. Changing the microfilter(s) is part of an Inspection 2.

Yeah I dunno, the ETK and a repair manual has it listed as "existing" but when I went to the dealer they had never heard of it. He also looked it up on the ETK which had one, but apparently e30s did not have a filter

E30s without A/C had them.. but that pretty much excludes most cars sold in NA. I had the part # etc for the whole shebang a while ago, but it's pretty pointless. you could have your car detailed and have them blow all the dust out of your vents and have the carpets shampooed instead, which would be nicer than a filter that will get clogged after a year.

The cabin air filter on your model is located behind the housing for the heater core. Pull console, heater core, climate control panel, dashboard, and heater core housing, headliner, #3 piston, pinion gear, and passenger subframe bushing.

PM me when you get to this point, and I'll walk you thru the rest.

Simple question does you car have AC? If yes, then no filter, sorry.
