Should the AFM door be completely shut with engine off?

I have a bad hesitation coming off idle so I took my AFM off and the voltage seems nice and linear but I noticed the door is open about 1" and the spring has almost no resistance until I open the door another inch or so. I can make the voltage go to nearly zero by pushing the door closed but it is about 0.8 V just sitting there. Does this sound right?

Figured that wasn't right. It only has 350k miles on it so why is that spring worn out? Haha. Thanks, Toby.
