Loud, Weird Clanking/Banging Noise

1987 325i Sedan, M20, was all good until about 2 days ago, when I was driving home from a restaurant. As soon as I hit 25 mph, this loud clanking/banging noise starting coming from either the driver's side wheel area, or under the car. I'm not entirely sure as I haven't had much time to look at it. Everything else is fine, besides a broken rocker arm, but that hasn't given me any problems (besides the lack in performance), but I doubt it's the engine considering it revs up just fine, and the noise only happens while in motion, and gets faster and louder the faster the car is rolling, even while in neutral.

I've got some theories as to what it could be, and I'll post some pictures as soon as I can. But any thoughts or help would be awesome. thanks

The broken rocker arm got removed already, so it's not in there or causing any problems. Albeit you're right, it's got the misfire, so it's not revving completely fine, but I meant that as the engine not being a source of the new noise I've been experiencing.

Front or rear? If rear Maybe your parking brake shoes are rattling around in the drum

Could be a failed center bearing on your driveshaft. Bearings and rubber gets toast and the drive shaft will bounce around within the bearing loop making loud clunking banging noise. Happened to me. Hope this helps

Check your calipers too. I had a caliper bolt loosen up on a truck I owned once. Lots of clanging and banging.

Drive shaft was close to it, but I got some time off from school yesterday to fully check it out. Turns out the bracket where the transmission bushings rest on, wasn't actually attached to the car itself. So the entire transmission was kind of dangling 2-3" lower than it should haha. But fixed it up, took out the bolts from the little sliding rails, cleaned them up, threw them back on. The size of the nut that goes on them is an M8 1.25 13mm, and now no noise, shifter doesn't even shake as much as it used to. Sorry if I'm not using the proper part names and whatnot, but thanks to everyone!

I've been looking around the M20 forum for any good reads on the rocker arm fix, or other possible solutions, and I've found some helpful ones, but would you be able to help me out with that or point me in the right direction? lol.
