    car died got a jump drove 5 miles lost power car died

    Have an 89ix coupe m20 died on me at work got a jump drove maybe 5 miles started to sputter lights went dim and died..cruised her into a parking lot stranded..any idea on what could cause this. Any suggestions well apriecated

    Bad alternator, rectifier, regulator.

    You could probably limp it along by not using the headlights or any large power draw.

      Most likely worn brushes on the voltage regulator.

        Put a different battery in, was able to make it home, car still sputtering.

          Yea I would suspect the brushed on alternator.

              Funny thing is I keep a spare alternater in my trunk when I take trips. Guess im not paranoid anymore.
