Spark plug wires?

I have a feeling I could replace them and it'd help. (cap/rotor done about 2 years ago, plugs... often enough).

Where would you get it? If you say BMA, that means dealer w/ discount.

Anyone actually think some aftermarket ones are worth it?

Don't waste your time with thicker wires on a stock engine. Go for either Magnecor 7mm or 8mm if you like blue wires. THey are good quality I can vouch for that.

That would be insane. :)

Be aware that if you go with the larger ones they may not fit in the regular loom.

Also if you care about the inductive pickup then you'll have to modify the sensor end to fit over the new leads. I didn't bother with it.

Also remember that the wires can fit into "hot rod" type wire holders, and get rid of the loom.

There must have been a reason that we used to think that crossing plug wires was a bad idea...

And, for the cheap mod, just get out your manual, meter the wires, and see if they are in specs. That alone could save enough for two tanks of go-juice.

Read alot about Plasma thing, will get one if I can get a deal...theory makes sense.

Does Magnecore make a set for the eta? I have Bosch 7mm wires now, but I'm thinking it's time for a new set soon, along with plugs, cap and rotor.

Yeah.

In fact at least with the regular OE set, the only difference between it and the 2.5 set is the inductive pickup lead which as I've been preaching for along time isn't actually necessary.

Plug wires and a fuel filter made the biggest difference for me. On the way to Putnam, I averaged 29.5 mpg. And traffic was stopped/slowed down around Indianapolis for a while too...

yeah, my guess was 100% correct. I just went out and tested them and experienced some arching.

i'm gonna throw down for the 7mm ones unless i decide 8mm blue ones are cooler.

I'm aiming for super efficiency now. Debating the Plasma Booster. It and wires and 3.73 going in soon should make a huge difference. If I get this thing squared away, above 25 true mpg on the instate, and near 20 in town, i'll forget anything about a 318is.

i'm not going to lie... part of the reason they came to mind is GRM's project 318is in which they had a large "gain" from replacing spark plug wires

although most of it was, as they explained, from not losing power from old worn out wires than really them being an "upgrade". ... maybe my engine will make good stock power now.
