    it runs~!!

    started it up after sitting a month and finally getting time to finish it.

    couple issues.

    1. when i started it up it seemed like it was making white smoke, but after awhile it went away and just looked like regular exhaust, so hopefully no headgasket issues.

    2. seems like it might have a slight stumble/misfire

    3. idle is goofy, if i hold the throttle cable tight, it idles fine, if i let it go, it idles too high

    4. its ticking alot, sounds like a pushrod v8 with bad oil pressure, or before the lifters pump up.

    so it probably could use new spark plugs/cap/rotor. i found a new rotor in the trunk, so now i just need a new cap and i already have ngk's ready to go in.

    hopefully the cat is still good, wont know til i try to pass smog/

    1. Was the battery disconected or dead while it was sitting? If the ECU didn't have power for a while, it will reset and have to "learn" again. This would cause the smoke and then for it to go away. Could also maybe be a bad cold start valve that is making the engine run rich until it gets warmer.

    2. Cold be anything. Try changing cap, rotor and plugs and see if there is a change. Could also be somehitng wrong with the MAF.

    3. Possible out of adjustment throttle cable or maybe a bad ICV? Even could be the cold start valve. Does it do it even when warmed up fully?

    4. Do a valve adjustment and see if that helps. E30's tend to be pretty loud, even when adjusted.

      for 3: out of adjustment tps, make sure it clicks when you open the throttle a little bit.
