    M20B27 Turbo

Hey guys, so before I get bashed for not using the search function for this... I have and have yet to find a solid answer.

So, i'm picking up an eta soon. It's not stock but there aren't really any upgrades to the motor. I would really like to go turbo but have heard that there wouldn't be a substantial hp increase.

I was wondering if I were to do an 885 head swap and then went turbo, would I get more power or would it still not be very effective? Everyone is basically saying to do the m50 swap but I just don't have money for that right now.

kamotors is selling a turbo kit that is saying to give 350+hp but it is a bit pricey.

If you guys could just give me your thoughts then I would highly appreciate it!

only reason that kit seems pricey is that its one large payment. Believe me, doing your own turbo kit, will cost you that much unless you either a. buy used, or b. buy ebay stuff.

I cant say anything about the ETA head and turbo, other people have done it but i was gonna drop $$$ for a turbo kit i'd do the b25 head. Gonna run aftermarket fuel management anyways.

I think you'd be able to improve TORQUE quite a bit- as for hp, you'd be leaving some on the table,
      but you'll still make (potentially) a ton more than a N/A M20b25...

I'm the last guy to ever recommend a M50 swap but if you think doing a M50 swap is too expensive you probably don't have the funds to properly boost and tune a turbo M20. To answer your question though, you'd definitely want to swap to the 885 head along with something like Megasquirt.

          ^^

Could not have said it any better.....M50, in retrospect to turboing damn near about anything is cheap...really cheap. FYI.....a turbo seta will BLOW the doors off any N/A m/s5x swap.

to do it right, and assuming you have good help and resources...I'd say minimum $5k to properly....(properly being the KEY word) turbo an m20.
