Just another "My car wont start" thread

    Hi everyone

    I drive a 1987 325 and I am having a no start issue.

    Back story:
My battery finally started to lose energy while driving leaving me stranded on the streets. I bought a brand new battery, and a brand new Bosch alternator. Recharged the battery and drove about another week before my car died again. This time I assumed it was my starter, and that it was draining energy from my car when cranking. I bought and installed a brand new starter. At this point, my car stopped working. Whenever I turn the ignition, the car cranks but does not turn over.
Since then, I have installed new copper spark plugs, (used) spark plug wires, new distributor cap and rotor, a new ignition coil, and a new crank positioner sensor.

There is power to my ignition coil, and (using a volt meter) power to my spark plugs. My car continues to crank, and not turn over.

    ...ECU? starter? ...thought?

    Appreciated
    -Trevor

Are you getting fuel? fuel air spark is all it takes to run, so since you have spark check fuel flow

I think there are typically a few culprits, to name a few: cps, fusible link, bypass obc, main relay. If you search those, it might get you on the right track.

I went through some of the same things a month or so ago. It turns out that my new CPS was a POS. I called the vendor and the guy I talked to said in his opinion that a factory OEM CPS was worth the additional $30 so that is what I had ordered. I replaced it and it fired right up.

Do you have voltage at your coil? If you are not seeing 12 volts or so there it will never start.
