can the TDC/camshaft alignment be off?

If it was aligned each time after going around in one direction. i did not think to check rotating it the other direction.

That makes no sense. If it's aligned when rotating it one way it's going to be the other way.

The reason to rotate it a couple of times is to make sure that the tensioner is doing it's job and the timing is still correct. Once you do that a couple of times you are good to go.

shit, you know what...i cant remember if i retightened the upper tensioner bolt after loosening it to tension the belt after i put it on...might have to pull that cover off yet once more... along with the fan, hoses...blah i hate that about the e30's.

Easy fix there, electric fan mod FTW! No more fan clutch madness!!!

actually i'm pretty sure i retightened it. it says right there in the bentley 16ft lbs and i know i had my torque wrench out at the time soooo. i'm gonna run with it. it already has an electric fan on there, but it has a clutch fan tooo.
