Motor Mounts and Trans Mount - OEM or Poly?

    Hello ya'll....

I'm looking to get some things replaced on the old girl and I was thinking about either going with OEM rubber mounts, or Poly mounts. The price seems to be roughly the same.

I have poly everywhere right now...Powerflex rear sub frame bushings and AKG RTAB, front control arm bushings.

I was debating on going with AKG poly 75D motor mounts and transmission mounts, however, I wasn't sure what everyone else is using....?

    Thanks for your comments

This has been covered in great detail before. Not all factory rubber is the same nor is all urethane (can be from as soft as stock rubber or as stiff as your kitchen cutting board).

In short do a search, there are some GREAT threads covering more than can reasonably be covered here.

I love how people who have been around the forum for awhile, their #1 thing to say is "search". However, they themselves at one time or another were also asking questions. The point of a forum is to ask questions, get opinions. Some of the info out there is old, so I want new info, perhaps now the people who had poly motor and trans mounts hate them and have some new feedback. If a forum is suppose to be just "searching" then why even give people the power to post?

I already did a search, didn't like what I found, so now I'm asking the question.

In short, every topic has been covered in great detail for a car that is 30 years old.

It really depends what you're doing with the car and what you want from it. I just bought E46 M3 trans mounts and OE engine mounts for my E30, but I have a stock M20, and I'm not planning on doing any really hard driving, maybe some auto-x events, but that's about it. It's more of a 3 season daily driver, so I don't want any excessive NVH.

You don't quite seem to understand. The point of the forum outside of simple social pleasantries is to be a repository of helpful information that a person can "search" through to see if a question has been answered. Those of us who actually know what we are talking about get tired of typing out quality responses covering the same question over and over and over. And as this forum has been around for several years you can imagine that a good amount of information is easily obtainable via the "search" function.

To ring my point home on a good discussion covering suspension/drivetrain bushing material and to emphasize I'm not trying to tear you a new one here is a good thread.....

And finally as I'm sure you understand the final "feel" is very subjective to the person (for example for a fun street car I like a relatively soft urethane [80a] for suspension components and traditional rubber on the drivetrain components..... but the fella above apparently prefers the feel of the near-solid (120a-ish) umhw pieces all around).
