Help need to wire up fuel gauge independently

I want to wire up a bmw e30 fuel tank gauge to a bmw e30 fuel sender independently from the dash location. I want to run power, ground and whatever else needed so it reads the amount of gas in the tank.

Read the schematic in the ETM manual and that will be all you need. Power, ground, and control voltage from tank floats.

So I figured out positive and negative side of gauge. I have a few questions.

Does the gauge run on 12 volts?

Looking at the pictures below how should I run power to it?
Do you think I can run ground to tank and run power off remote wire connection on amp?

        BMW Fuel Level Sensor

This connection has 2 brown/green wires running of it. I think it was spliced into the fuel sender on the main tank. I do not what to slice into any of those wires. Rather run it independent.
