Swaping a Console Instrument Cluster?

Anyone swap or tried to swap the instrument cluster from a E34{525i] to an E30{325iX]?
To take advantage of the better instrumentation.
Outside visual appearance both clusters look the same size.

your engine harness is missing some of the inputs that you seek in the "instrumentation" from the e34 cluster. you'll need to accommodate them by way of a custom harness(es)

The e30 cluster is a snug fit as is, and if it's not in just right it's challenging to see the cluster right, and trim doesn't line up. I don't think they are the as close to the same size as you think.

It would take a lot of fabrication to get the e34 cluster to fit with a clean look. Besides, the E30 cluster is perfectly fine.
