3.73 vs. 4.10?

I bought a big case 4.10 when I bought my motor. I'm going to be doing the 2.7i swap, and put the differential in when I do that.

basically my question is how bad will the 4.10 be? I'm going to need to drive my car on the highway, so how bad will my gas mileage be? If it's gonna be real bad I'd just get a 3.73 instead.

seriously though, I know I have an automatic, but still the 4.10 isn't that bad. the stroker motor will probably have more of an effect on mileage than the diff.

If your using it on the highway a lot you don't really need to be concerned with the gas mileage too much unless you're going to be driving at 85+ the whole time. Keep it around the speed limit and your gas mileage will be fine.

Anyone have some mph vs rpm figures?
That thing is going to be a torquey beast , but it's going to scream at the top end.
According to the calculator at 80 mph the engine will be at 3644 rpms.

2nd from 28 - 55
3rd 55-80
4th 80-110
5th 110-140

I still get 22-23 on the freeway doing 75-80mph with the 4.10.

YMMV with the 2.7, of course.

And he apparently he thinks it sucks that at 60mph the engine is turning 3000 rpms.

but i dont really notice the 3k @ 60. with the 3.73 i was at about 2500 or something, so its not that bad.

I swapped an M3's 4.10 LSD in for my stock 3.73 LSD - it's a great upgrade. You will absolutely love it - I doubt you'll even really notice the extra revs or the decrease in average MPG --- don't hesitate. Put it on.

I drive home from school a lot..... ave. mpg about 25.5 on the highway.... ave. speed. on the highway about 65-75mph. I have a 4.1 a dinan chip and 270K..... you'll be fine.
