Getting my stroker bits together (m54b30 rotating assy) and found a small dimple on a piston. Now I've seen slightly worse but still usable. My concern is where the dimple is located. Should I scrap?

I mention Metric Mechanic because it is a great way to empty your wallet to get unverified horsepower gains."

Depends on whether or not you like pulling your motor apart multiple times. Why risk it? I say replace & be safeAdventures of an E30Originally posted by e30lovsweet a mk4 jetta, haven't seen one of them for about 14 seconds -
take a feeler gauge and measure side clearance of the top ring land to make sure area isnt pinched tight where dimple is ,if same all round just take a flat file and file to match existing contours and it'll be just fine to reuse since its above gudgeon pin area anyway
looks like it just got dropped onto something to cause the dimpleAngus
