    Tach wiring

Ok so i need to wire in a tachometer! Its on a "racecarish" so it will be an aftermarket one. would like to wire it straight from the ecu if i could. wondering what all wires i need to connect and what pins they come from? m50 with a red label 413

Well when I put a Sunpro in my old toyota truck, it just involved ground, 12v, power for the light, and a wire form the ignition coil. Really easy to do and I bolted it to the steering column, like my friend's '70 Nova. It was pretty badass. Then when I sold it the stupid new owner wanted to take it off. What a fuckin moron

It's really easy once you get to it. It's okay to crimp everything. It's important to find a really clean ground. If you ground the wire too close to the instrument panel, the tach will read weird. I wasn't able to get my tach's backlight to dim with the rest of the panel, but toyota made the dimmer switch really weird and when it was hooked up it dimmed in reverse (got brighter when everything else got darker) so I just left it out.

Other than that, just find a clean place to mount it. I'm partial to the steering column of course

Most aftermarket tachs just require 12v switch power, ground and engine speed signal from the DME. Not sure what wire it is in your ECU but it is usually solid black in color across many car manufacturers. Double check by looking it up for your manual.
