How does the 318is get fuel!

I bought a 318is awhile back with a blown engine and I'm trying to get it running. I swapped the engine out and now I'm not getting any fuel, so I craweled under the car and noticed that it does not have the typical fuel pump next to the filter, all it has is a metal ring where the pump normal is and no wires indicating that there used to be a pump there. Does the intake pump supply all the pressure or is there a pump I don't know about? I guess I'll have to add a pump to support the m50.

It's an in-tank pump, and people that have swapped M/S5x engines have used the stock 318 fuel pump with no problems.

As I understand it from my BMW mechanic, these pumps (in tank) have a tendency to go bad after sitting for a while unused (he says over a period of weeks to months, depending on the condition it was in when "parked". I'd start there.

all e30's have in take pumps, some (early models) mave two pumps. One in tank and one above the fuel filter.

moving on, where is the fuel pump relay on a 91 318is? Can I swap it with any of the other relays to test it? I know its in the fuse box but where.
          Thanks again

^^it should be right by your PS resvoir, the relay furthest from the resv.
