    Unknown brake noise

My car (1986 325e w/ stroker motor) is very tempermental. Whenever it feels like it, it will create a noise from my front brakes that can only be described as whining/ringing. It isnt squeeling, or grinding, but the closest thing I can associate it to is a very high pitched version of what happens when you run your finger around a glass of water, making noise. It makes my ears ring if I let it go on long enough.
Now if it was just this noise alone, I wouldnt be posting here. This noise only happens when Im turning left, and rarely when Im driving straight. Turn right, and its silent. Along with that, the noise goes away when I press on the brakes, and if I hold them to warm them up (obviously not good for them I know,) it will stay away for longer. My right front caliper does drag slightly, but this noise was happening before I knew about the caliper. I have tried looking up brake issues, to no avail.

If it helps at all, this noise started happening after I got a new steering rack. I dont see how that could be any issue, but it did not happen before the new part.

Any help or ideas would be useful, I dont have the funds right now to fix it immediately but I will keep all ideas in mind for possible fixes.

Best bet to to pick the front of the car up and take the wheels off to see if you can see anything is loose or installed improperly. check for wheel bearings, linkage binding when you turn left etc.

I get a whine from the power steering when I have it turned all the way to either side. Could this be coming from the steering, since you just had work done and it only happens on turns?

heat shield rubbing on the rotor, is a possibility.

they get easily hit, and bent. take the rotor off and look for shiny spots where it might have possibly rubbed. sometimes they get bent so slightly that it wont rub when you spin the wheel, but only when you're turning and the chassis/bushings flex enough causing it to rub.

might not even be it. but something to look into.

I do have to do an oil change soon, so while its up in the air I will check for all these things. Definitely not a power steering sound though, but I know from my poor description of the sound that one wouldnt be able to rule that out.
