Rear turn signal stays illuminated when not operating

ive spent a couple weeks now looking for information on this problem with no luck.

with the lights on, my rear right turn signal acts like a running light when not activated. any input would be greatly appreciated. it flashes correctly when activated.

Wrong bulb? I had an 83 rabbit that did the same thing. Someone had replaced a bulb with one that looked the same, but wasn't. It was feeding voltage to the turn signal when the headlights were on. Hope that's it. Good luck.

i thought for sure that you were right ether-d when the bulb that works correct was different. no luck though, same result.

Sounds strange but my 87XJ (Jeep Cherokee) did this when it had a bad ground

i was thinking short to ground for some reason. id never find it though. probably gonna bring it to the shop next week if i cant figure it out.

this is a super cool tool and it is very good! it sends a signal through the wiring and the wireless box tells you if you are getting closer or away from the short or open connection.

Try unplugging t/s switch, it sounds like thats your problem

Dammit! I just knew the bulb trick was gonna fix it too. Anyway, when I first picked up my vert, the turn signals would just immediately blow the fuse. It took a minute to find, but the body harness was pinched under the driver's seat where it bolts down. Maybe try looking there next? Good luck.

And it took me about 10 minutes to realize that BMWstudent was referring to your "turn signal" switch. Sometimes I'm a little slow on the up-take…
