Mine ticks like a sewing machine - it needs it badly.

Quick question - if I do the push the car in 5th gear trick, how far am I pushing it forward each time?

Just did mine this weekend. If you look at the cam real close you should find 6 valves in the closed position. Adjust those and roll the car forward in 5th gear. Mine took about 4-6 feet to rotate the cam 180 deg. Then adjust the other 6and its done only moving the car once. Oh! BTW remove the sparkplugs before you try to push it in gear. Also, I found a lobe on the cam that was a 180 deg. away from contacting the rocker arm and while pushing watched this rocker arm until it was at its highest point, I was bymyself and that was the only way I knew how far to push the car.

OK, I do mine differently. I jump 2 wires under the dignostic cap to run the starter...actually, I use a small pushbutton to bump it over.

shows a digram of the pins, and makes this really easy.

Screw rolling your car forwards and back! This is so much easier. You can see exactly when the cam follower is off the lobe.
