Looks like rust is mixing with the paint and coming out.

Not sure what you used, but I've never had good luck with high temp paint on anything other then a BBQ. I've painted exhaust manifold and the paint always burns off. Your cat is going to be even hotter then your manifolds - so yea. I know por makes good stuff, but I'm not sure even that is going to be up to the task.

        Someone tell me I'm wrong.

Did you mix the paint well before using it?

the high temp paint is rated up to 1200 F. so i guess we will see. Kinda dissapointing to have this bead after spending all this time painting/prepping.

Metals can hold water. The piece needs to cook the water out before painting.

It seems there was water present.. and only after the painting has the piece been heated and water is now trying to escape.

With high temp paint like that in order for it to properly adhere it has to go through heat cycles to treat the paint onto the metal.

On a side note a properly operating cat can operate at high enough paint to be at the limit of the high temp paint even properly cured.
