    Alpina cluster colors

    Hi,

Need some help, about Alpina cluster colors:

*needles - orange, but maybe someone knows code?
*cluster panel - like dusty grey/brown :) though similar color

e30m3s54turbo I know You are live Alpina database :)

I would contact email Alpina. On my Alpina clone cluster I used orange sharpie pin for needles.
The back ground color is green/ brown color. There is a guy on r3v that can make the Alpina logo 100% the same. I would contact r3v (KIRIEIW)

    Here is my Alpina cluster.

Here is my Alpina cluster clone. I used a Alpina sticker from Pukar Designs.

Alpina logo I already bought from bavrest.com
Needles color isn't very hard to choose, I bought orange paint Tamiya color X-6 from Diecast models shop, but its to bright.
But the biggest problem is cluster panel, maybe I will leave it OEM.

I've made a couple of these over the past year for 5 or so members on here. Actually, "e30m3s54turbo" helped me out by sending me some close up's of his cluster so I could get a good look of the true background color. It's a rather interesting color that changes at the angles/ amount of light shinning however I think I finally found a color very close to the original after some trial and error.

Now I don't really want to give out the paint shade, as it wouldn't be fair to people who purchased these replaca's off me in the past, but I will say everyone who's bought one seemed to be very pleased with the outcome. It's not some paint you can get at Wallmart, its about $18 per can. On to some pics! (This cluster face went in "e30rapidics" car that I'm sure everyone drool's over. Absolutely stunning example!

For the needles, go to hobby store and by testors model paint in "chevy engine red" this is basically the perfect orange. I also went to harbor freight and bought an inexpensive airbrush.

Personally, i dont think the sharpie idea is going to be very permenant. It will probably fade fairly quickly in the sun.

              Thanks dudes, for ideas.
I understand that very few people can understand whether it is true Alpina cluster, or a replica, but for me the same peace of mind that will be as far as possible to the original :)

I went to a hobby store to buy orange paint. I tried to paint brush needles. It didn't turn out well. I didn't have a spay gun. That's why I went with the orange sharpie. I could shade light or dark orange.

You could contact Kevin to do your m3 cluster for Alpina logo and probably shade the cluster green/brown color.

The Alpina cluster has 3 special Alpina key items on it.

                1 Alpina logo
                2 green/brown shade on cluster
                3 260klm speedo

Yes Alpina speedo came with white needle on the later e30 C2 2.7 and B3 2.7. The Alpina logo was on the speedo 240klm and tack.

Sharpie can work well, but over time it kind of fades and gets streaky. I did mine red and after a few months they needed to be touched up. I plan on painting them at some point, just too lazy to pull the cluster.

I do not recommend painting the needles with any method aside from air brush enamel.

Also keep in mind you guys are referencing 30 year old highly faded colors. I have seen original low mileage garage kept clusters and the housing is several shades darker and the needles are several shades brighter.

We are capable of producing exact replicas of the Alpina cluster including the increased speedometer capability and increased tach limit.
