help with removing rear wheel hub / bearing.

OK so I have the CV axle out, I tried hammering the hub out from the back but it does not budge?? Maybe I am doing something wrong or it is stuck. What other method can I try? I read using a slide hammer? Where do I attach it? etc any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

btw I am replacing it because the previous owner put cheap studs in, and they are loose, I just want stock hubs.

edit just youtubed it lol.. the attachment that I needed they did not have..guess ill check another store or buy one.

I lubed mine a lot, and hammered the hell out of them. It took time but it worked. I used a large socket and a BFH.

I went and got the attachment to put on front of the hub.. used the slide hammer a bit but it only moved a little bit, waiting for my brother to get home and gonna try this method. What did you spray on there? WD40? I cant use a large hammer because the car is on jackstands with the rear above the ground only about 14 inches.

Im trying to figure out what works best because I have to go the JY and pull hubs from there.. so im not trying to be in the JY longer than 2 hours lol..

I hope you intend to replace the bearings cause the odds are high they will not survive hub removal. Then you need the $89 HF front wheel bearing kit

Yea I am replacing them, I already noticed the difference lol, they were smooth before the tool, now they sound all grindish like they have rocks in them. I rented the bearing tool from autozone as well.

Ok I got it out.. I know that it destroys the bearing but, it seems like it took half the bearing with it? the little ball bearings spilled all over the yard. Also the circlip came out .. I thought I was supposed to remove that AFTER the hub lol.

Ok your post confused me a bit, So I am to remove the clip before pulling the hub or after? Because bentley says after the hub is removed, but it came out with the hub for me. So you are agreeing with me then? lol. idk.

It goes Hub -> Retaining Ring -> Bearing. For installation (since that's your next step) press the bearing in, put in the circlip, press the hub in.

ok so I was right, the ring wasnt supposed to come out with the hub lol. First time doing this, have to go to the JY and do it to get new hubs, then I have to do all 4 on my e28.

You should be able to remove the ring from the hub. May have to 1 or all of the following:

                      1 - heat the ring
2 - cut the ring either thru or most of the way thru
                      3 - use a 2 or 3 jaw puller
                      4 - use a punch or chisel

Harbor Freight tool package as noted. Dremal tool with cutoff wheel and chisel.
