id check the bulbs for the rest of the SI lights. assuming your are not talking about the oil change interval lights.

And also only half of it lights up when i pull the lights.
The anti lock and the brake lining not being on in key setting 2 i believe is because the cluster did not have the two prongs the wire connect to. Could this affect battery life in any way such as a dead battery light? I already had the anti lock sign in my old one but that may be because it needs a new sensor?

The only thing that happens when i smack it is these lights will occasionally turn off and back on
The rpms and mpg guage on another note, will hop. But nothing really.

but id disregard any of the lights at the moment thats not nothing to worry about at the moment the tach working is and the oil pressure light I would have just open both clusters and just swap the tachometer itself and kept the original cluster in and just swap the coding plugs lol there are differences in cluster but I cant remember what can be swapped and what cant be and I dont feel like digging my box out of clusters at the moment

Well theyre different manufacturers, the one thats in is a VDO and the eta one is a Moto. Are you telling me to put my eta plug into the i one? I have another i one lying around too .

Well it can be a few things connection, bad tach, theres actually a ton of info on diagnosing the cluster between here and bimmerforums and e30tech but I almost can bet that one light is out just steal the bulb from your old cluster and change that its on the back of the cluster you just turn it with needle nose pliers but your gas gauge has to be changed it was just easier to swap tachs between the two clusters in my opinion. if your old cluster worked good

The battery light was dead so , you may or may not have seen, but i was bitching alot when i first got on here because my battery wouldnt last a week. 86 eta cluster so it didnt have a resistor for dead lights like later ones and bla bla you probably already knew that. That no longer happens on the new cluster but FYI the tach did not work on the eta one either. The gas worked fine though but you already told me why it doesnt know so i know what to do for that.

So ok i will switch plugs and see of that works and when i have time tomorrow i'll take it out and try and donor the eta gas guage to it , suggestions on doing this?
