    Receiver/Dryer

So I bought a new receiver dryer and high pressure switch, however, I'm unable to get the high pressure switch to screw in all the way to the receiver/dryer. It's as if the threads are wrong or too narrow. It will go in about 1/3 of the way and then it becomes extremely difficult to advance any more. I'm not sure what's going on because I can't even get the plug for it all the way back in. And no, I dont have them cross threaded. Are there different sized receiver dryers or high pressure switches?
    Any ideas?

on my 85 eta when I retroffitted it I purchased a new dryer and it only works with a new low pressure switch, and bypasses the high side switch. The low switch screws into a Schreader port on the side of the dryer which makes it so you can change the switch without loosing any freon.

      ???

I'm trying to use Freeze12. So I don't even use the high pressure switch that I just got from you?

Where is the low pressure one? Is that the fat one on the opposite side?

Yup. Now if your new one is BMW part #64 53 8 391 025 then you need High pressure switch with part # 64 53 8 390 971.

ya those are the 2 parts I used that switch is actualy the low side. i followed the Factory TIS instructions on converting the car, they say to splice the 2 high side wires together, install the new dryer and higher pressure low side switch. I converted the car to Envirosafe with is an all natural R12/R134A replacement. On my dryer there was only the one fitting which looks just like a pressure valve on the one side.

Is it possible for you to take a picture of your set up?
            Thanks!

So you wired the high and low press. pos wires together, and the grounds together too?

No, you cut the plug of the high pressure switch wiring, and splice those 2 wires directly together. You then cut the plug off the low pressure wiring and install the new style plug. Then plug it into the new pressure switch. R134A runs at a higher pressure, so on the e30 BMW calls for bridging the high pressure switch(ac won't cut off if pressure get's too high), then they installed a new low pressure switch which cuts off at a higher pressure.
Here are some scans of the TIS documentation.

I think mine might be backwards. I have my high pressure switch where your low pressure one is coming out of the side. It also looks like your high pressure line is on the opposite side of mine. My solid line comes toward the receiver/dryer from the firewall.

Cool, I understand now. I think this is kind of like what I'm going to have to do with my new receiver/dryer. After I ordered it I began to wonder if it was like my original 2 switch unit.

damn, i was just looking at it wrong. it's the same. So I should just plug where the low pressure switch went and then put the low pressure one where the high pressure switch normally goes? that's what it looks like you've done.
