    Fuel tank return clogged.

So I've been chasing around a high fuel pressure problem for a while and I've narrowed it down to a clogged return siphon.

I did some searching and it seems to be a common problem with late model tanks that the venturi in the tank siphon crossover thingy gets clogged and causes high fuel pressure @ idle.

Does anyone have any secret sauce tips on clearing the blockage? From what I've read so far using compressed air would only make the problem worse and force the blockage further into the venturi bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now replacing the whole tank is out of my budget

For anyone doing this in the future your best bet is to take some relatively flexible wire, but also stiff (something like bike brake cables) and chuck it in a drill, feed it into the tank return until it stops, then use the drill to spin it.

It helps if you fray the end of the cable slightly so it can break up whatever is in there. If it clears up fuel should start pouring out of the return, if your tank is filled of course. Follow up with blasts of compressed air, not too much to blow up the tank though. Remove your gas cap before going at it with compressed air.

If it doesn't clear up you may have something solid stuck in there, try stiffer wire.
