    325ix Tail Light Gaskets?

    Hello,

I'm getting watter in my trunk/boot.

My body shop guy tells me that the tail light gaskets are bad. I can't figure out which one though. I don't see water in the lens. The trunk seal is also good.

It looks like there are two gaskets on each side. I'm thinking I need the ones that seal the lens to the tail light body which is this part number: 63211380419. The other goes between the lens and bulb carrier: 63211370679.

I'm leaning towards the first one as being the one to replace. Thoughts? Should I just replace all four of them?

    Thanks

I think you're on the right path if that's really your issue.

Have you checked your sunroof drains? Pull the mousefur/plastic back on both sides and make sure the tubes are connected to the drains.

Tail Light Gaskets are a good place to start. As Kershaw said, check the sunroof drains, but also check the rubber gasket on the rear vent covering that hides behind the bumper. This is where my mystery leak was coming from once I changed all the other gaskets

Part #64221922280 for the gasket alone, or Part #64221922739 for the vent covering (which includes the new rubber gasket).

AND the antenna gasket. Seal 'er all up tight in the back.

          Here's my water leak list:
-Antenna seal (replace it either way, it's cheap and worthwhile)
          -Taillight gaskets
-Trunk gasket (even if it's soft, it may have lost its shape and won't completely seal.)
-Make sure the tube for the sunroof drains in the trunk are completely seated into the side panel itself; over time the hose can dry up and pop out, dumping the water into the area inside the bumper
          -Rear window seal
-Sunroof drain seals on each side inside the rear bumper (these have to be special-ordered if I remember correctly, so plan to wait a couple weeks)
-Gasket around the third brake light on convertibles
