    alternator belt keeps flipping?!?!?!

so i replaced my alternator belt and power steer belt after 1 snapped and the other was pretty much toast.
the power steering belt installed fine and isn't giving me problems.
but the alternator belt for some weird reason will flip over (with teeth side up) and stay like that. the tension is good and i've replaced the first replacement that has done the same thing.
what the hell is going on???

Is it possible that the belt is on the wrong part of the crank pulley? ie it's supposed to be in front of the other belt but it's installed behind it or vice-versa?

something is probably bent or out of alignment.

Check the bushings on the alternator, they wear out and cause the alternator to sit at a funny angle making the belt fray and eventually fly off. Happens more with the s14 though ...

Plus the later cars don't have rubber bushings. The bushing is integral with the alternator case.

Are you absolutely sure a) It's the right sized belt and b) it's on the right pulley?

I know you answered b) but you need to be sure.
