        Anyone know the part number for the m3 diff, I found a used one and want to confirm before I buy, thanks.

          I know someone with a 325ic/a and sure enough I rubbed the diff tag with a little used oil and sure enough it had a 4.10 S on it. Dude said its original, car had over 215k on it though. build date was older than 87' don't remember though.

              Nothing other than give you a higher driveline loss.

              You already have a 4.10 (possibly Limited slip) "small case" diff in the 318is, going to a "big case" 4.10 wouldn't help you any. It's heavier and larger, if anything it would rob you of power.
