    Synchronized xmas light flashing--alternator/regulator?

    1988 325i vert

Over the last few days, every time my gf starts the car, the battery, brake fluid and parking brake idiot lights on the cluster start flashing in sync, about twice per second. It lasts about 30 seconds, then they stop and remain off. Occasionally, the radio and dash lighting will do the same.

I'm thinking alternator or regulator problem--but what exactly? Worn brushes? The battery was replaced last year. Am I on the right track?

Try replacing the brushes in the alternator. The voltage regulator may be at fault. If your alternator is original to the car, may want to think about replacing it before your next long trip. Use genuine BMW or bosch factory rebuild for reliable performance.
