Bad idle on cold starts only.. Need some advice

Need some help diagnosing an issue with a 1989 325i Convertible... Day after buying the car I noticed on a cold start the idle is wonky and goes up and down and sometimes even stalls the motor.. Unless I give it a bit of gas and as the car warms up a bit it runs great.. Only issue is when it's not warmed up it acts as if it has a bad ICV but I assume if the ICV is bad it would idle poorly even when warm... Any info would be helpful ... Thanks

The easy answer is that there's an air leak in the intake somewhere.
Search "smoke test" here for lots of ways to figure out if/where/how...

Check your temp sensor (blue plug) cold ohms should read 3500-4000 Ohms. If that checks out recheck at DME pins 24 & 45 - you should get the same reading.

If you don't then check the wiring in the C191 connector (under the intake manifold).

Without a good signal from the temp sensor the DME won't supply correct fuel for cold start or run conditions.
