Inner Tie Rod Removal, No Lock Plate Visible

    Hey everyone,

I am replacing my suspension, control arms, and tie-rods. I've got everything removed except for the inner tie rods.

There does not appear to be a locking plate at all. I am applying a lot of force with an adjustable wrench and they are not breaking free. Does PB Blaster help? Is there a special tool I need? Haynes manual list 27 at the torque spec, so have they seized? IF yes, how do I get them off?

    Thank to all...

Why doesn't the adjustable wrench work? I watched the BavAuto video with this tool, however am not convinced a lack of torque is my issue. Does this fit differently?

They were probably replaced by a gorilla some time in the past.
Or with red loc-tite. Which you can loosen with propane- level heat.

The clamping tool and a rattle gun would probably do it, but you'd want
to be careful to keep the rattle gun from trying to twist the rack in the housing.

think about the difference in contact area between that tool and an adjustable wrench. The tool has 360 degrees of contact. Compared to an ajustable wrench which has two. And they're like 16 bucks at autozone

Also use a normal ratchet or breaker bar if you like. But an impact wrench wouldn't work in this case because of how the tool rotates around the tie rod.

Interesting note here... I got new tie rods last fall... they are TRW. Instead of this style of fastening, they had a larger nut with no locking plate. I installed with some blue thread lock, no problems.
