    OBC problems

Need help troubleshooting problems with my OBC.

Yesterday I swapped my OBC for a used one. My original OBC would not allow any changes (basically the "pen point" button would not work).

The used unit I just installed isn't working right either.

Should this thing just work when you install it or do you need to do something to get the thing rebooted after you install it.

    Thanks

Did you swap over the chip/plug in the back of the OBC unit? It shouldn't need to be "rebooted". Should be plug and play. What's the problem with the second unit?

No, I didn't swap the chip.

It it the white plug with 2 tabs on the top right rear of the OBC?

      Thanks

        Yup that would be it.

Well, I just spent the better part of the afternoon pulling apart the dash to get to the OBC and swapping out the chip.

          Unfortunately, the problem still exists.

Does this mean it's a bad OBC or a bad chip?

          Regards

Probably have another defective OBC. What's the problem with the 2nd unit?

The first unit stopped working after the last time I reconnected the battery. It wouldn't let me adjust any settings. It seemed like the "pen point" button didn't work. Unless something else could cause that to happen. You could change from temp, to time, to date etc but it wouldn't let you set the time or date. You couldn't make any changes.

The second unit which I installed on Thurs just doesn't work.

It lights up but you can't change or adjust anything.

I am open to any other ideas on how to fix.

              Thanks
