    e30 turns off while driving

hey guys lately my 1986 bmw 325es with a I motor would have a hard time turning over in the mornings and idle very rough then shut off or if it doesn't shut off at first start. It'll turn off while driving and just leave me with my lights on, on the right side. Usually when it turns off while driving ill just key off and then key on and open the throttle and keep driving. I've noticed that the revs go down as i get to a slower speed.
Ive noticed that some days it'll drive fine without turning off and some days it'll turn off like 2 times and not do it again. there have been times were i would downshift and it won't turn on or sometimes ill turn the key to the on position and the starter will grind.
At times when I'm at idle I can feel that it wants to die I give it gas and it doesn't respond and just dies.

    few things I've done was:
    - i swapped my afm for anther good working one. (made no difference)
-adjusted the valves. (it was time for it)
-bought a new bosch 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator. (just cause my old one was from the junkyard, i didn't know its condition)
-swapped icv. (the idle doesn't surge like it used when i would come to a stop)
-cps is within spec and i cleaned the portion of the magnet.
-replaced the outer pump in march of this year and the fuel filter.
-the 3 relays that are on the driver side, I've replaced them like 2 year ago.

i was also wondering if this pressure is good for a i motor i have the dual pumps.

You might have a few issues, that's why finding one single thing wrong is proving fruitless.

Also, have you checked the battery terminals? Are they secure?

Car was running fine before summer started, then it just started happening early june. I have not checked the battery connection. I'll give that a shot

Well that's step 1. Step 2 is replacing the main relay.

Check the ground to the oilpan to see if it's loose.

Check the plugs, wires, distributor cap, and ground straps.

If those are good, test the alternator and check the brushes/voltage regulator.

You can take out the regulator and brushes with the alt. in the car. Replace if the brushes are uneven or worn down.

I dot think your relays are bad. those will either work or they won't.

Thanks for responding. I was just messing with the car right now. I took the cap and rotor off and cleaned the points with sand paper and also changed my oem cps with a venmo cps and it seems to run better.
I also learned something new if you have the car on the 2 position and tap the cps with a metal screwdriver it will turn the fuel pump relay on. I lm going to put the oem sensor back in and see if just cleaning the points did the trick

So far car has been running like a champ, no dying and starts right away after sanding the points on the distributor
