Anyone have 87 325/e - and sucessfully reset SI maintenance lights?

    Hello R3V,

Anyone out there with an 87 325/e - who's managed to reset their inspection/oil lights?

I know about the fused jumper technique, and I also got a Peak R5 tool from ecs, and neither work for me. I read the peak took says it's incompatible with 87 325/e.

    What's special about 87 325/e?

    Different pins, something.
Any help apprec. I hate silly lights and it's the only thing going on with my car.

Thank you to any 87 e'ers out there or folks who may know.

I've had an 87 325eS and reset it with a jumper wire like I do all my E30's. There's nothing special about it. 84-87 ETA's all used the same early diagnostic connector. Maybe you just have a bad SI board?

      Is this normal?

      Hey thanks.

I just bought the SI a year ago from Pelican, it's prof. refurbished number.
It could be faulty, but I just bought it last season.

Is this normal - the yellow and red lights on the right side are illuminated. Even when the car is off, they stay on. When the car runs, the oil inspection light is on, but that turns off. No greens are on during normal operation, or when the car is off.

That seems odd to me. Is it?

I made a fused jumper and tried to reset it a few times with no luck.
I have no idea why that Peake 5 tool says it won't work for 87 but I tried the jumpter too.

      Are those light combo's normal?
They just came on afew days ago. They were off until then.

Not normal. No lights should stay on with the key out.

          Agree... something is wrong.

I just use a unfolded paperclip to reset mine... I jump the pins on the diagnostic plug, then turn the key to the on position until the lights reset.
