Weird Idling?

Something weird, has happened, my car has just started idling, al like 900rpm, and if u rev it it idles at like 1100rpm for a couple of seconds then goes back down to 900rpm, it used to idle at around 600rpm or so, this I just noticed now when I drove it and it wasn't doing this last time I drove it.

900 is where you're supposed to idle (I think).

If the idle is fluctuating, try cleaning your idle control valve. If that doesn't help, maybe it's time to replace it.

idle is not supposed to be 900.

most M20's seem to idle around 600 though...

as for your problem..is this when your engine is warming up?

Yeah, if your engine is warming up, it will idle high at first, then drop when the engine is warm enough.

won't a bad ICV normally cause the engine to idle at 1500+ rpm? 900-1000 sounds about right for a cold engine..

Check for vacumn leaks also. Happened to me once.

Mine does the same just ordered a new one since cleaning the old one did nothing for the idle. No vacumn leaks either.

after the car warms up im at a steady 750rpms. but when its really cold out and u first start the car it will be up at about 900.

RPM idles at 600 or 900 if the AC is on. I doubt it would be the ICV, I swapped my ICV for my dad's e30 and it never solved the case. I have a brand new intake boot as well so I wouldnt blame it.

Mine goes straight to 2k RPM and after two or three minutes of driving goes down to around 1k.

Hmmm, I just drove the car now and I get in start and it idles at 650rpm, drive it a while let it idle, 650 again, I dunno WTF?
