    Cluster has gone crazy.

My temperature gauge had started reading high. After flushing the system the problem persisted, so we started trouble shooting the cooling system. Everything seemed to be working. One of the fixes I was told to try was to clean the contacts on the temp gauge. I pulled the cluster and cleaned the contacts. After that everything went down hill.
After reinstalling the cluster, the temp gauge worked. And that's it. No tach, no speedo (which was already intermittent), no gas gauge but the gas light stays on, the left turn signal stays on, and when you put on the right turn signal the temperature gauge bounces with it. I'm at a loss for what to try now. I replaced the SI board today with one from Bavarian Restoration hoping it would help, but there's no change. The car runs fine other than a drain on the battery when it's parked. Since its not my daily it stays on a battery tender in the garage.

Sorry if I rambled a bit, I'm just trying to relay any information I can think of.
    Lights off:

A good place to start is with your grounds. Check engine grounds (primarily for good preventative maintenance) but also check your ECU grounding.

That's all I have for you right now. Definitely an interesting one.

I went out and bought a new multimeter last night. I have no idea where my old one got to. I'll start checking pins tonight. If I'd thought about it I would have brought my Bentley manual to work for some light reading.

This is a pretty odd problem especially the left turn signal staying on. This may indicate a short in the cluster wiring harness. Have a look at the three harnesses and inspect for insulation damage.

I recommend tightening the 7mm nut behind the temp and fuel gauge. Also replace fuse 10, 12 and 21 with new 7.5A fuses and you may find everything working again.

Good luck and remember all customers receive detailed troubleshooting help by emailing me bavrest@gmail.com.
