    trans drain bolt and ATF

    what size is the drain bolt on the auto trans of a 86 325. and what ATF do your recomend i should use, the car has about 250k miles btw

    the drain bolt is 17mm inverted. you pretty much need a 17mm hex.

      Thats for a stick. The autos have a 5mm allen bolt.

        5mm? that seems really small too me. you sure it wasnt a typo for 15mm? and if possible, can you show me a pic of where the drain bolt is?

          Yes, 5 mm. Check the following link for a writeup on how to change the auto trans fluid in an E30.
