    I got a 8lbs Ally Flywheel...

The car rev's like a banshee... drivability. if u going around a corner at low RPM in 2nd gear, the car shudders a little... otherwise no driveabiliy lost.

If u plant ur foot, in 1st gear... u can bounce it off the limiter. If u not quick enough on the shift, thats how quick it rev's.

I'm more than happy 2 have lost a small amount of torque to have gained this revabilty.

What are the bearing and covers shown as items 1-4 for? They look like they are pressed into the rear of the crank

        That's the pilot bearing.

my understanding is that the pilot bearing is pressed into the shaft but what actually goes throught the bore of the bearing (is it the stub end of the gbox)?

I don't know if it is really pressed in, sometimes you can get them out easily. But yes the little stub on the input shaft of the tranny lines up into the hole in the bearing. Replacement bearings usually just pop right back in.

how do you get the pilot bearing and felt seal out? Is there a special tool becasue the ID is like 1/2" and there isn't much to grab onto?

Bav Auto has a tool but I don't know if its worth ordering. Most generic pilot bearing pullers are too large to fit in the tight confines of the pilot bearing hole. Two methods that I've heard work really well are both "hydraulic" approaches. Some people stuff cheap bread in there, some people pack that area with grease. Then you need to drive a dowel with the exact same diameter as the ID of the bearing. The force will push on the bread or grease. The grease will have no where to go so it exhibits force on the back of the bearing and pushes it out. Luckily mine was pretty easy to get out with a pair of seal hooks.

I also tried using the Autozone bearing puller with the slide hammer, but it didn't fit right. I ended up just sticking one of the hooks of the bearing puller into the pilot bearing and stabilizing it with one hand as I yanked on the slide hammer with the other hand...

I tried packing the hole with grease, but the bearing was stuck in there. I had to use the puller.
